I dabble in the programmatic arts. My language of choice currently Python, though I'll tinker with Java as required. I'm starting to delve in C a little bit, as the finer points of the language are easier to understand when you've started with a higher level language.

Tools and Tech I'm Workin' With
This scratches the surface and should be considered a living list. I'll update it as I drift through the chaos-info-ether sampling bits and pieces of tech and protocols to glue together.
Sysadmin-ey Things
Java-ey Things
Some new work has me tinkering with the following Java-ey technologies.
I'll be learning these things as time permits and work demands. Classes will naturally follow, as I find the best way to learn a technology is to teach it to others.

FreeDesktop
FreeDesktop is an amalgamation of technologies with a focus on X-Windows desktop environments such as GNOME and KDE. Frameworks such as D-Bus and Telepathy provide communications between users and applications. Think Component Object Model meets XML-RPC meets Jabber.
Google, by way of the services they provide and the data they contain, can be our best friend or our worst nightmare. Understanding the power they hold over their users, they've endeavoured to place in our hard-drives some of the greatest open-source technologies of the past decade. The only reason they "aren't evil" is because of the wealth of information they share (or not) and their humble attitude towards the open-source community. While this may not reflect the opinions of HackRVA, it certainly holds true in my bit-travels.
